About the Project:

Food for Art Magazine takes my personal photography project of attempting to glorify groceries to a fine art level and embodies them in a clean but quirky magazine.

Approach:

The final product of this magazine combines fine art images of food with white graphic lines to seemingly resonate away from the image and create visual interest. Mixed into each of these compositions are articles describing the particular food item in the image and adding more depth to the content. The typography fluctuates between formally structured articles and free flowing phrases to pair with the images. Although the design was elegant, I did not want it to feel serious. This led to including graphic lines and exploring bold, and sometimes quirky typography. The color scheme came from the included images and reflects the manner of each food photographed.
